Govt to welcome ICBC role in promoting investments: President

ISLAMABAD:President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday said the government would welcome the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) playing major role in promoting investments and joint ventures in Pakistan involving Chinese corporations and various companies.Pakistan has become one of the major destinations for Chinese investors and the existing investment and trade equations between the two countries can further be enhanced if important Chinese banks like ICBC would start operations in Pakistan.
The President expressed these views during his meeting with Executive Vice President and Executive Director of the Board of ICBC Ms. Wang Lili here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday, which was the follow up of President’s earlier meeting with the President ICBC in Beijing earlier this month. The Chinese delegation included among others Chinese Ambassador Mr. Liu Jian, Mr. Zhang Qinghua, Deputy Head of HR, ICBC, Mrs. Chen Jin, Deputy Head of International Business ICBC, Mr. Cao Yunchuan Deputy General Manager of ICBC Seoul branch and Mr. Su Hui, Project Manager Overseas Management & Strategy Planning, International Department. Pakistani side included Secretary General to the President, M. Salman Faruqui, Special Assistant to PM, M. Kamal Majidullah, Ambassador-at-large, Khalil Ahmed, Deputy Governor State Bank, Kamran Shahzad, Secretary to the President, Malik Asif Hayat, Foreign Secretary, Salman Bashir, Secretary Finance, Salman Siddique.
